Muhtathir’s Mille et Mille Pillar-To-Post In the Cadran

Updated: October 4, 2015 at 2:01 pm

At the end of 4000 meters, the order of the first three was the same as at the start of the Prix du Cadran, with Mille et Mille dominating under a masterclass of riding from the front from Thierry Thulliez. Breaking through in black-type company when successful in the Listed Prix du Carrousel at Maisons-Laffitte July 26 prior to finishing a disappointing eighth in the Sept. 13 G3 Prix Gladiateur here over almost two miles, the bay was always comfortable racing in isolation on a track that was blatantly favoring front-runners. With nothing coming out of the pack to pose any type of threat, he kept pouring it on in the straight to hold Kicky Blue and Fun Mac, his closest pursuers throughout. “This is a fantastic moment and one of the most beautiful days in my life, as my son Yan takes care of that horse and is soon to take over from me,” trainer Carlos Lerner explained. “He’s a top-class stayer who only ran a bad race last time because he was short of work and scoped dirty afterwards. We were very confident coming into this, as he had worked fantastically. He will run here in the [Oct. 25] G1 Prix Royal-Oak and next year we will look at Royal Ascot. He has to travel with his pony, so we will see if we get permission for that.”
